Common 'Finding Forever'

Common will head to the studio this month to begin recording his seventh studio album, "Finding Forever." The rapper is hoping to once again call on the production talents of fellow Chicagoan Kanye West, who helmed Common's 2005 effort, "Be," and released it on his G.O.O.D. Music imprint via Geffen.

That disc bowed at a career-best No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 769,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Common says his goal with the new album is to craft timeless music.

"The title is about creating music that can be here forever, music that can last," he tells Billboard.com. "I'm just trying to find that place. I find that, with the albums, they just start shaping themselves."

And with West handling the majority of production, Common hopes to repeat the critical success of "Be." Last year, Common described their first pairing as a chance to compose "good, soulful hip-hop music."

"I'm very, very pleased, grateful and enthused about making music. I want the best," says Common. "The sky's the limit. With this album, I feel like I can have a million records sold, Grammys, BET awards and some top 10 singles. There are no limitations. I just gotta make the music from the heart and let the rest take its course."


Common is currently winding up a nationwide tour in support of "Be" and is also scheduled to perform April 29 at California's Coachella Festival. Additionally, the rapper can be seen performing in the new concert film "Dave Chappelle's Block Party," which opened last weekend in U.S. theaters.

He recently wrapped his acting debut in "Smokin' Aces," which also features Alicia Keys in her theatrical debut, as well as Ben Affleck, Jeremy Piven and Andy Garcia.

Il est dit que Kanye a essayé de bosse ses beats comme Dilla sur cet album en hommage. Bon sinon ça sent un peu l'arnaque sachant que so far to go est sur the shining même si c'est un bon track. En tout cas, j'ai hate, Be m'avait vraiment plu.

j'déteste pas kayne, loin de là mais le voir sur presque tout les titres avec en plsu uen prod de Will Iam ça sent un un peu la popisation...jdemande à entendre.

J'confirme, on est très loin de la pop, et kanye west c'est pas timbaland.

ca va être l'album de l'été pour moi!

l'album est prévu pour le 31 juillet. Les extraits sont pour l'instant super convaincant.
